With Christmas fast approaching, LST has been on a mission to support patients spending the festive period in hospital.
Our first stop was Dorchester County Hospital, where we donated a selection of toys ranging from colouring books and jigsaws to trucks and board games. The gifts were hand delivered to the children’s ward by LST team members.
Next, we visited Southampton General Hospital, supporting the work of Southampton Hospitals Charity. Here, we donated gifts to elderly patients who tend to face Christmas with limited support and can be forgotten about at this time of year.
Commenting on the initiatives, Anna Richardson, LST’s Office Manager, said: “We’ve been delivering construction projects at both hospitals over the past year, so wanted to extend our support with charitable donations. We hope our gifts will help to spread some festive cheer for both the young and old who sadly, are too ill to be at home over Christmas.”
The Christmas donations form part of our wider commitment to helping local communities and creating social value. Over the past 12 months, we’ve been involved in several campaigns, activities and events all designed to make a positive difference.
In June, we helped fly the flag for the National Healthcare Estates & Facilities Day to celebrate the essential work of all E&F professions in delivering health and social care to people across the UK. LST team members spent the day at Southampton General, Queen Alexandra, Crawley and Dorchester County hospitals, giving out gifts and treats to E&F stars.
Also in the summer, we sponsored a Corporate Challenge Treasure Trail organised by Southampton Hospitals Charity. The event saw local business groups visit 34 lighthouses across the city answering questions along the way and returning as quickly as possible. The lighthouses were displayed as part of a public art event aimed at raising funds for Southampton Children’s Hospital.
Thanking us for our sponsorship, the charity said: “Your generous donation allowed us to host the event in a central Southampton gallery, and provide our attendees with Franco Manca pizza, as well as some beautiful gifts for the winning teams.
“Partridge Mini won the challenge, but all went home with smiles on their faces, and a better understanding of the work we do as a charity. Hopefully the event will lead to wider support from the local community.”
Later in the year, we helped Portsmouth City Council promote a series of free sessions which were offered to all 11-to-16-years-olds in the city. The Autumn Sessions included FlipOut, bowling, football, skating, professional musical theatre workshops and gaming. Our support enabled a video to be produced that captured and celebrated the success of this initiative.
In addition to sponsorship and fundraising, we continue to donate £50 to charity every time a customer completes a project feedback form. This money is donated to the charity of our customer’s choice helping a wide variety of good causes locally and nationally.
In the year ahead, we look forward to continuing to support the local communities in which work and helping charities to make a positive difference.
