Can you describe a typical day?
In HR, there is no such thing as a typical day! My role is really varied ranging from working with our directors to implement our people strategy, through to helping with performance appraisals, identifying training needs, delivering workshops, and recruiting and inducting new team members.
I also need to keep abreast of employment law changes and regularly attend seminars with other HR Managers for networking and mutual support.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love the variety in my job, and the fact that every day is going to be different and will present its own challenges.
As LST is a family-run business, I get to know everyone as an individual, find out what makes them tick and help to create an environment and culture where everyone can flourish and feel supported and valued.
Why is LST a great place to work?
I work with some amazingly talented, funny, inspiring and dedicated people who are all supportive and love their job, so there is such a positive atmosphere.
LST genuinely cares about its clients and employees and has a very open culture where feedback is encouraged and listened to. Everyone’s opinion matters, whatever level they are at.
We have a strong corporate vision and values which all our business leaders work by, so they lead by example. And everyone has KPIs which support our business goals, so we can see how we are progressing and that we have made a contribution to the company’s success.
Also, little things go a long way, for example we’re provided with free lunches, we and our immediate families receive vouchers on our birthday, and our personal successes are acknowledged and celebrated.
Tell us something people may not know about you.
I own a 3ft python called Monty and a few years ago I was awarded the South Wiltshire and West Hampshire Fundraiser of the Year Award for raising more than £17,000 for the Breast Cancer Ward at my local hospital in Salisbury.
