On an existing building, LST will be responsible for constructing a third floor as well as a side extension, creating additional teaching rooms and a flexible space for other school activities.
The existing first floor will be remodelled with new partitions, ceilings and windows followed by a full, interior fit-out throughout the newly extended building. The upgrades will improve the environment for pupils and staff, enhancing comfort, light and ventilation.
Scheduled to be on site for 52 weeks, a large proportion of the works will be delivered while the school remains open and operational.
Steve Chapman, Contracts Manager at LST, said: “Logistics management and health and safety are critical to this project. We have worked with stakeholders from the school to create a robust logistics plan with rigid demarcation zones and hoardings. Combined with stringent site management, this plan will minimise any disruption for pupils and staff.
“Deliveries will also have to be very carefully managed as the access route will cross the playground area. This will require close monitoring and management, including traffic marshals to ensure the highest safety standards.”
