Making the Grade
Our pipeline of projects in the education sector has continued to expand this year. As well as helping schools to improve energy efficiency through upgrades to windows and lighting, we have been appointed for large refurbishments and expansions.
These include a £4.5m project at Bournemouth School which will create a new three-storey building, the refurbishment of a Grade II listed building at St. Anne’s Catholic School, and the recent upgrade of Bradfield College’s Music Hall and roof refurbishment works.
Supporting Hospitals
Working with our long-established healthcare clients, we have helped to expand and create new spaces at several hospitals.
At Southampton General Hospital we refurbished three facilities, helping to enhance the environment for endoscopy and motility services as well as the Acute Medical Unit (AMU). Partnering with the team at University Hospital Southampton (UHS), we expanded its Ophthalmology department and for Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, our work helped to enhance Maternity services.
Enhancing Community Facilities
We are proud to have helped bring new and improved facilities to local communities this year. In Bishops Waltham, we worked with Winchester City Council to bring new office accommodation to the area. A former storage depot was transformed into 6,576 sq. ft of floor space with the building designed to optimise energy efficiency through features including solar panels.
Also in Hampshire, we were appointed to help a team of veterinary specialists improve their space, including a reception area, offices, and consulting and treatment rooms. The project is scheduled to complete next year.
Prioritising People
We are pleased to have welcomed several new faces to the LST family this year. A total of 10 people have joined our team in a variety of roles including Site and Contracts Managers, Senior Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Estimator, a Finance Assistant, and an Office Manager. All bring diverse skills and specialist experience to LST, helping us to deliver the highest-quality projects to our diverse clients.
Continuous Improvement
Building on our accreditations, we added ISO 14001 to our list, demonstrating our environmental commitment.
Internationally recognised, ISO 14001 is a rigorous standard that demands stringent environmental management. To achieve the certification, companies must have a robust environmental policy in place with objectives that meet several requirements. These include proactive measures to reduce waste, water and energy consumption, and processes that comply with the latest environmental legislation.
The ISO 14001 certificate adds to our ISO 9001 accreditation which demonstrates our robust quality management systems.
Looking Ahead
As we continue to operate in uncertain times, predicting what lies ahead is becoming increasingly difficult. But as a business, we have a clear vision aimed at securing further growth in 2022 and building on our success.
We remain optimistic about the future and look forward to continuing to work with our clients to meet and exceed their expectations, ensuring LST is their contractor of choice.
