LST has commenced its second refurbishment project for Royal Holloway, University of London.
Scheduled to be on site for 20 weeks, the LST team is delivering a new digital studio which will be home to a 30-foot curved TV screen.
A former theatre building is being remodelled and updated to create the new space ahead of a specialist audio visual fit out. New walls are being created together with new resin flooring and the installation of an audio-visual lighting rig.
The project follows LST’s refurbishment of the ‘Engineer’s Cottage’ which was handed over in spring 2024 and created state-of-the-art music recording facilities for the University. This transformation saw LST reconfigure the listed building to create two live rooms, a control room, and a relay room.
The interior was expanded as part of the remodelling, including removing the base of three large Victorian chimneys. The building’s façade was also rejuvenated and intricate detailing on the top of the Victorian chimneys restored.
Steve Chapman, Contracts Manager for LST, commented: “We’re pleased to return to Royal Holloway to help upgrade its facilities and support future education needs. This exciting new project involves the careful coordination of specialist contractors to ensure the seamless delivery of the new studio by the middle of October 2024.”
