LST will be responsible for constructing a new three-storey building, which will include classrooms and dining facilities as well as a sixth form centre with associated support accommodation. A steel frame corridor will be built to connect the new structure to the existing adjacent building.
Kevin Searle, Project Manager at LST, said: “The school is located in a residential area, and we will be working in a live environment, so a range of measures will be required to minimise disruption and prioritise health and safety.
“Our in-house experts will develop comprehensive traffic management and health and safety plans to ensure our site team adopts a safe system of working at all times, including continuously monitoring vehicle movements and pupil welfare.”
The extension follows Bournemouth School’s successful bid to the Government’s Selective Schools’ Expansion Fund (SSEF) and has been designed by architects Kendall Kingscott.
