The 26-week project will be delivered in two phases. The first will see LST alter and refurbish existing accommodation within the hospital to deliver the new cardiac suite. After stripping the 440 sq m space, LST will install partitioning, suspended ceilings, floor finishes, doors, sanitaryware and a reception desk. The team will also be responsible for overhauling mechanical and electrical (M&E) services, including renewing the air conditioning and ventilation systems.
The second phase of works will create several new plaster rooms. Existing partitions and doors will be removed prior to installing new suspended ceilings, a nurse station, floor finishes, associated M&E services, fixtures and fittings.
Chris Taylor, Contracts Manager at LST, said: “This project builds on our expertise in working in live, healthcare environments. The refurbishment will be carried out within a busy hospital building with wards located directly above our working area. Minimising noise will be crucial along with highly effective communication with the hospital team.
“Our site compound is in the hospital’s loading bay so any large deliveries related to the building work must also be very carefully co-ordinated."
The contract follows three successful projects delivered by LST at Salisbury District Hospital, including the creation of an assessment unit and birthing centre which has enhanced maternity services.
