A focus on specialist industries and building relationships with both new and existing customers has helped to fuel our growth.
Sector strengths
Our work in the healthcare sector has remained particularly strong, which has seen several key projects delivered, or start on site, in 2018. These included a £2.4m contract with our long-standing client – the University Hospital Southampton. Working in a live 24/7 environment, we are helping to construct a new extension to the hospital’s north wing which is due to be completed in April 2019.
In addition to healthcare, we have continued to deliver projects which are integral to local communities. In Eastleigh, we built a new community centre providing space for local activities and a nursery group. The building forms part of a large residential scheme which is being brought forward by two large housebuilders.
In Caterham, we completed our second refurbishment for Freedom Leisure, a not-for-profit leisure trust. This design-and-build contract for de Stafford Sports Centre comprised extensive alterations, refurbishment and fit out of the existing facilities.
People power
Of course, our success wouldn’t be possible without the skills and commitment of the talented people behind LST.
We’re pleased to have been in a position to expand our workforce over the last 12 months, providing further support to our clients and our business as a whole. From experts in commercial management through to highly-skilled surveyors and estimators, we have broadened our expertise to ensure we can continue to grow and deliver an exemplary service in 2019.
We have also sought to enhance employee engagement. Making everyone throughout our business aware of our goals and targets at the beginning of 2018 has seen our staff pull together more than ever before and that’s been instrumental in us hitting our ambitious targets.
Outlook for 2019
As we look ahead over the next 12 months, the challenges affecting the wider construction sector won’t go away, but we remain optimistic about 2019.
Like any business, we will have to navigate economic uncertainty and associated risks, but we are confident about the future. Our specialist skills coupled with strong customer relationships put us in a strong position for the year ahead, so we look forward to continuing to make our clients lives easier and delivering projects which exceed expectations.
