As we mentioned in our last post about the top four reasons to consider design and build, one point that many clients agreed with was the speed at which things can be done. Fewer tenders mean a project can get underway a lot quicker.
Several projects we’ve worked on have been completed quickly, and on budget, and include a variety of schemes – from school dormitories to a brand new community centre development.
The education projects are often to tight deadlines and we have to cater for the rest of the working facility. These projects include the complete strip out, reconfigure and refurbishment of washroom and toilet facilities, refurbishment of the boarding dormitories (which you can read about here) and the refurbishment and mechanical and electrical works associated with that of science labs and fume cupboards at LVS Ascot. There is also the design and build of a new sports hall at St John the Baptist School which you may have seen on our case studies page.
Whilst the deadlines aren’t quite as stringent for our community design and build projects, we always aim to deliver within the original time frame. Enabling our clients to have one point of contact is a great advantage to ensuring things go to plan. Such as the Fair Oak community centre we’ve been working on throughout 2017.
This project was the design and construction of a new community centre for an estate of new build properties. As we were working with the developer consortium, having that single point of contact within LST made it easier for them to communicate the requirements of the Fair Oak Parish council, and vice versa.
Another project was the QE2 Pavilion for Fawley Parish Council – again we were communicating with several different parties, so the single LST contact assisted the progress of the development, which is included on our case studies page.
