All 390 pupils from Fair Oak Infant School took part in the challenge, which encouraged youngsters to draw or paint an A4 poster that explained how people can save energy in their home.
The winners in each year group won a voucher and there were also prizes for second and third places, which were presented by LST Site Manager Dave Flack, and LST HR Manager Sara Huffey at a whole school assembly on 1stJuly 2019.
LST is currently building the nearby Boorley Green Community Centre and Sports Pavilion, which are due to be completed in August.
Dave Flack said: “We always strive to build good relationships with the local communities in which we operate. The competition was a great opportunity for us to engage with a local school, close to our construction site, and for the children to learn more about the importance of protecting the environment in a fun way.
“We also took the opportunity to talk to the children about health and safety, and the importance of staying safe around construction sites especially during the summer holidays.”
Headteacher David Peart said “The children enjoyed taking part in the poster competition, and it has helped to further raise their knowledge and understanding of environmental issues and how they can help look after the environment and the world in which they live.”
Sara Huffey added: “We were really impressed by all of the children’s posters. From not leaving taps or light switches on, through to putting on a jumper when you’re cold, there were lots of great ideas all expressed in a colourful and creative way. All those that entered should be really proud of their work.”
