This project saw LST Projects undertake a comprehensive overhaul of an office block used by NHS employees in Horley, Surrey. The three-storey building, one of four utilised by NHS England and NHS Improvement South East, ensures that people across the region have access to high-quality health and care services.
LST was appointed by NHS Property Services to remodel and enhance office accommodation spanning 3,000 sq ft at York House. The team dismantled internal partitions to create open plan areas, transformed existing offices into new meeting spaces, and replaced the outdated toilets with a unisex facility.
Additionally, the office space was upgraded with the installation of new flooring and ceilings, redecoration throughout, and enhancements to the kitchen area. To improve energy efficiency, LST also fitted solar panels on the roof.
Situated above a public car park, the building presented numerous logistical challenges. The site was extremely constrained, offering no extra space for construction vehicles, cranes, or equipment, including skips. This necessitated meticulous scheduling and the use of an underground car park to store materials and equipment, which were only brought out as needed.
Despite these challenges and the constraints imposed by COVID-19 restrictions, the project was completed on schedule and within budget.
