Working with the University of Southampton and Rekan, LST created an Independent Learning Space (ILS) for the Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) department.

This involved the strip out of an existing two-storey building, including removing all finishes and mechanical and electrical installations. Sections of curtain walling were also changed and a new building entrance created.

In the newly created areas, LST installed a new mechanical ventilation system and air handling units on the roof as well as an electrical package resulting in new data, access control and fire detection systems. New internal walling systems were also installed along with glazed screen systems, new ceilings, floor coverings and decorations.

Furthermore, the building benefits from new toilets, an accessible WC, new speed gates, security, and acoustic quiet study spaces as well as a huge AV screen.

To meet the client’s preferred dates, the programme was fast tracked and completed on time, ensuring the students could benefit from the new space from 1 December 2023.
