The not-for-profit leisure operator took over the management of the centre in 2018 and made a significant investment in the site to help transform the facilities and enhance the visitor experience.
LST was responsible for the six-month refurbishment programme, which included extensive alterations to the reception area, office space, café and first-floor gym followed by the fit out of each area to modernise and upgrade the spaces. Our team carried out all the associated masonry work and joinery and installed the mechanical and electrical (M&E) services.
The leisure centre remained in constant use throughout the project which required a number of provisions to ensure the work was carried out safely and without disturbing visitors. These included project phasing, daily screening and segregations as well as night work to avoid certain leisure centre activities.
The transformed facility was officially opened in January 2019and follows our successful refurbishment of Arun Leisure Centre in Bognor Regisand de Stafford Sports Centre in Caterham, Surrey.
