LST Projects was appointed to deliver a new performance venue at Ringwood School, designed to support both the school’s curriculum and the wider community’s cultural needs. Known as The Barn, the facility offers a flexible, multi-functional space that will host everything from school productions and assemblies to community events and performances.

The project was delivered on the site of an existing car park, which first had to be reconfigured to provide safe access and egress. Once this enabling phase was complete, work progressed on the main build. This included the installation of new mechanical and electrical services, the construction of foul and storm drainage systems, and a range of associated external works to integrate the building into the wider campus.

Spanning over 1,000 square metres, The Barn accommodates up to 650 people and includes luxury fixed seating, a retractable lighting rig, and a high-specification concert sound system to support a variety of technical performance requirements. The interior has been designed to be both practical and comfortable, offering an inclusive space that enhances the user experience for students, staff, and visitors alike.

Sustainability played an important role in the design and delivery of the project. A number of environmentally friendly materials and systems were incorporated, including high-performance insulation, cedar cladding, and beech flooring. Solar panels were also installed on the roof to help reduce the building’s long-term energy footprint.

Delivered on time and within budget, The Barn is a testament to LST’s collaborative approach and ability to manage complex builds within educational environments. The venue is now a key asset for the school, providing a high-quality, future-proofed space that supports both learning and community engagement.
