The refurbishment of the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) department at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust has now been successfully completed.
Appointed by the Trust, LST Projects were tasked with transforming the existing ward, originally made up of three large rooms, two treatment rooms, an anti-ligature space and several utility areas, into a single, modern open-plan treatment space designed to meet the evolving needs of urgent care delivery.
The completed facility now features a spacious treatment area with thirteen fully equipped patient bays, each providing access to medical gas and essential patient services. The new layout has been carefully designed to improve operational flow and flexibility, enabling the A&E team to treat patients more quickly and efficiently.
Delivered on a fast-track programme, the project demanded precise coordination and a focus on delivering quality under time constraints. The end result is a high-performing, purpose-built environment that supports better patient outcomes and a more efficient emergency care pathway.
