However, due to a flood elsewhere in the school, it became a much bigger job than anticipated, removing water damaged floor boards and the prospect of dealing with asbestos under the flooring. We had already started working with Hampshire County Council on the refurbishment specification, so in some ways, if a flood was going to happen, it happened at the right time as we were just at the beginning of the process. The flooding meant we had to take up the gymnasium floor and match up flooring materials to ensure consistency throughout.
"LST undertook this project and delivered everything expected of them and more as extra works, as a result of the flood, were added to the contract. Robin Morton (LST Project Manager) did a brilliant job of sorting out the Gym floor finish… and actually went to collect samples to ensure the Client was selecting a similar/matching floor material. Robin also did a great job of dealing with the asbestos issues below the Gym floor which entailed a lot of tricky survey work and liaison with HSS. Well done Robin. Rob Day (LST site Manager) worked so well with the school site staff to ensure everyone was fully informed and the project ran like clockwork” – Hampshire County Council surveyor
