Despite economic and political uncertainty affecting some parts of the construction industry, we have retained a strong pipeline of work in our key sectors – healthcare and education. Highlights include a major project win with Bishopsgate School in Surrey, which will see us construct a two-storey facility featuring a new sports hall, and the delivery of a new urology day unit for our long-standing client, the University Hospital Southampton.
Underpinning everything we do is our commitment to our programme of Safety in Focus and over the last year, we have continued to raise the bar. At regular intervals throughout the year, HCS Safety, our external health and safety consultant, have carried out inspections at our construction sites, some cases we have scored 100 per cent which our site managers are very proud of.
These inspections not only provide reassurance and peace of mind to our clients and the people working on site, but also members of the public, demonstrating that we are adopting the highest safety standards.
For the first time, we also staged a mock incident at one of our sites to put our health and safety practices to the test and ensure they were watertight. This move formed part of our Safety in Focus initiative, which is focused on continuously improving our health and safety standards.
Building good relationships with the local communities in which we operate is another priority for LST. In 2019, this led to the launch of a successful school’s competition that enabled youngsters to show off their creative skills and learn about protecting the environment.
Of course, none of this work would be possible without the skills and commitment of the talented people behind LST. We’re pleased to have been in a position to further expand our workforce over the last 12 months, providing further support to our clients and our business as a whole.
