A former milking parlour at Sparsholt College has been transformed into a modern teaching environment following a refurbishment by LST Projects.
Completed within 26 weeks, the project has created a new classroom, laboratory, and office space, bolstering facilities at the specialist college for land, animal and leisure-based industries.
The obsolete building’s external fabric was replaced by our team in line with its change of use, including thermal efficiency requirements. This saw a new roof installed together with insulation, cladding, doors, windows and steelwork.
Inside, the comprehensive fitout saw our team install M&E services comprising new ventilation, lighting and heating. A platform lift was also fitted along with a DDA compliant entrance, laboratory furniture, flooring and high-quality decorative finishes.
Sandwiched between the college’s Equestrian Centre and its new milking parlour, the refurbishment demanded stringent site management to make sure the animals, students and staff were not disrupted by any noise.
Sean Campbell, Contracts Manager for LST, said: “This transformation has turned a redundant building into an impressive new facility that supports the college’s investment in the new milking parlour next door. Students will benefit from much needed teaching space in an attractive, accessible environment.
“The feedback from our client during the handover was fantastic, which is testament to the skills of the entire project team and its commitment to quality.”
LST worked with construction consultants Rekan, Fusion Project Management, and structural engineers Marbas Group to deliver the project.
