Designed and managed by Sheerin Bettle Architecture, the project will see two units demolished and replaced to create new space for Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists (SCVS), including a reception area, offices, and consulting and treatment rooms.
A two-storey building will be created, which will feature a combination of face brickwork, insulated cladding panels, and timber featheredge cladding as well as a slate roof. New windows and external doors will also be installed. In addition, a neighbouring unit will be adapted and extended. New gable ends, windows and doors will be fitted, and hard and soft landscaping carried out.
Following the completion of the external structures, LST will carry out an internal fit out to both buildings, including the installation of mechanical and electrical services, new ceilings, doors, floor coverings and decoration throughout.
Sean Campbell, Contracts Manager for LST, said: “This is a 52-week project that is being fast tracked to enable SCVS to offer its new facilities as quickly as possible. The company will continue to practice in the neighbouring buildings while we deliver the work in two phases. Good communication and engagement with our supply chain will be critical throughout to ensure the works are effectively co-ordinated to achieve critical programme dates.
"There are several challenges to overcome along the way. We will have to carefully manage the extensive services that exist around the site and new drainage is required to address previous issues with flooding.”
SCVS is a multidisciplinary referral centre offering a wide range of specialist services and advanced facilities not found in ordinary veterinary practices.
