In the pool area, LST has installed a new flume as well as water play equipment. The poolside has been revamped with new tiling and fittings, including handrails and steps, and wall and ceiling finishes have been refreshed. An external glazed façade has been replaced and the changing area completely refurbished. LST has created new facilities for the disabled and more space for families. New walls, floors, ceilings finishes, and floor drainage have been implemented as well as new cubicles and lockers.
LST was also responsible for the M&E solution, which saw the team replace an air handling unit and improve energy efficiency with new LED lighting throughout the leisure centre.
Carl Fry, Project Manager from LST, said: “This was a demanding project that had to be completed in a short timeframe and during the pandemic. This required stringent planning and co-ordination, especially as a range of specialist equipment was required for the pool area. We liaised closely with suppliers to ensure this was delivered and installed to meet the client’s completion date.
“Another challenge was the installation of the internal floor drainage in the changing area. It was crucial that the correct levels were achieved, and everything was set out to suit the floor layout, which required close supervision by our site manager and his team.”
The refurbishment was designed by architects Arkon Associates and Clarkson Alliance was were responsible for project and cost management.

Malvern Splash is the fifth leisure centre that LST has transformed for Freedom Leisure within the last five years. Our team was also appointed to upgrade Freedom Leisure Centres in Bognor Regis, Caterham, Oxted and Wisbech.
