LST Projects has completed a multi-million-pound school extension and upgrade. The £4.5m project has created a new sixth form centre at The Abbey, an independent girls school in Reading, Berkshire.
On an existing building, LST was responsible for constructing a third floor as well as a side extension, creating additional teaching rooms and a flexible space for other school activities.
The existing first floor was remodelled with new partitions, ceilings and windows enabling the school to increase teaching and learning spaces which benefit from natural light throughout.
On the ground floor, a new dining space that will double up as an exam hall has been created, along with new classrooms, and flexible conference and meeting rooms.
The scope of works also saw LST carry out a full, interior fit-out throughout the newly extended building.
Steve Chapman, Contracts Manager at LST, said: “These upgrades have significantly improved the environment across three floors, providing pupils and staff with plenty more space as well as enhanced comfort, light and ventilation.
“As a large proportion of our works was delivered while the school remained operational, logistics management, and health and safety, were critical to the success of this project. We worked with stakeholders from the school to create a robust logistics plan that minimised any disruption for pupils and staff.”
