The £4.3m project has seen LST build a new two-storey building for Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists (SCVS) in Forest Corner Farm. Externally, the impressive new structure has been constructed with face brickwork, insulated cladding panels, timber featheredge cladding and a slate roof. The space has added a new reception and waiting area, multiple consulting and treatment rooms, and a dedicated area for SCVS’s 200 staff.
LST has also adapted and extended a neighbouring unit. New gable ends, windows and doors were installed by the team and complemented by hard and soft landscaping.
After completing the new buildings, LST delivered the internal fit out to both properties, including the installation of mechanical and electrical services, new ceilings, doors, floor coverings and decoration throughout.
The entire project was completed within just 52 weeks to enable SCVS to open its new facilities to the local community as quickly as possible.
Sean Campbell, Contracts Manager for LST, said: “We worked closely with SCVS to deliver the upgrade as efficiently as possible and with minimal disruption. The vets continued to practice in the neighbouring buildings, and we carried out the works in two phases. Good communication and engagement with our supply chain was critical throughout to ensure the work was effectively co-ordinated to achieve critical programme dates."
Hospital director Stephen Collins said: “After two long years of Covid restrictions, we are very much looking forward to inviting clients from the area into this fabulous facility and providing them, and their pets, with the exceptional care they deserve.
“We have an amazing team of people at SCVS, and I am delighted we now have a facility that will provide them with the very best working environment, as well as more space to allow us to expand the services we offer.”
SCVS is a multidisciplinary referral centre offering a wide range of specialist services and advanced facilities not found in ordinary veterinary practices. The redevelopment was designed and managed Sheerin Bettle Architecture and is the largest in an ongoing investment programme at the practice.
