To achieve the certification, LST has partnered with Carbon Neutral Britain to measure its carbon emissions and offset them through internationally certified projects.
Robert Tuffin, Commercial Director at LST, said: “By becoming a carbon neutral business, we can take proactive steps towards protecting the environment. As the UK’s leading carbon offsetting initiative, Carbon Neutral Britain has carried out a robust and independent calculation of our emissions, which will be offset to support a variety of projects around the world.
“As well as offsetting, and maintaining our carbon neutral status, our aim is to measure and reduce our emissions every year to make sure we continuously improve. By taking action now, we can help to make a positive difference to the planet before changes to the climate become irreversible.”
The international carbon offsetting projects identified by Carbon Neutral Britain are certified via the Verra - Verified Carbon Standard (VCS); the Gold Standard - Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER); or the United Nations - Certified Emission Reductions (CER) programmes. As the three largest and most regulated voluntary offsetting standards, all measurements and tonnes of CO2e offset are accurate and verified.
The projects have been selected based on their direct and indirect impact around the world - not just in offsetting, but in supporting education, employment and clean water provision as well as having a net positive impact on local wildlife and ecology. Examples include the supply of renewable hydroelectric power in Chile, the distribution of high-efficiency biomass cook stoves to 22,000 households in Malawi, and providing energy-efficient lighting in India.
