Enhancing healthcare
As healthcare specialists, we have been involved in a wide variety of construction work, which has improved facilities, services, and the working environment at sites across the south.
For our longstanding client, UHS NHS Foundation Trust, projects included the complex upgrade of electrical infrastructure serving cooling equipment at Southampton General Hospital. Our team also upgraded both the neuro and paediatric intensive care units (ICUs) at the hospital and is now on site extending the cancer care unit.
Towards the end of 2022, our team returned to Salisbury Hospital to create a new cardiac suite as well as several plaster rooms, involving alteration and refurbishment works.
In Portsmouth city centre, we transformed a former retail until into a new medical centre, enabling primary care services to be expanded and more than 20,000 patients to be accommodated.
To improve the working environment for NHS staff in Surrey, we overhauled an office block spanning 3,000 sq ft. Appointed by NHS Property Services, our team remodelled and upgraded the accommodation at York House to create open plan areas and new meeting space.
In Hampshire, we handed over a fantastic new facility for Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists (SCVS) in Forest Corner Farm. Externally, the impressive new structure was constructed with face brickwork, insulated cladding panels, timber featheredge cladding and a slate roof. The space has added a new reception and waiting area, multiple consulting and treatment rooms, and a dedicated area for SCVS’s 200 staff. LST also adapted and extended a neighbouring unit. New gable ends, windows and doors were installed by our team, complemented by hard and soft landscaping.
Top of the class
Our work in the education sector remained strong in 2022, including both refurbishments and new build projects.
We overhauled the exterior of St. Anne’s Catholic School in Southampton, replacing more than 240 windows to improve energy efficiency and aesthetics at the historic building.
Further north in Surrey, we upgraded three facilities for Farnham Heath End School.
In Hampshire, we delivered a multi-million-pound performance venue at Ringwood School, and remodelled Wyvern College to create extra classrooms and address space and circulation issues in existing buildings.
A £4.5m project at Bournemouth School continued at pace and is now complete, providing a new three-storey building, including classrooms and dining facilities as well as a sixth form centre with associated support accommodation.
Our team is also on site in Reading, delivering a multi-million-pound extension and upgrade for the Abbey School. The £4.5m project will create a new sixth form centre. On an existing building, LST is constructing a third floor as well as a side extension, creating additional teaching rooms and a flexible space for other school activities.
Looking Ahead
As we continue to operate in uncertain times, predicting what lies ahead is becoming increasingly challenging. But as a business, we have a clear strategy aimed at securing further growth in 2023 and building on our success.
We remain optimistic about the future and look forward to continuing to work with our clients to meet and exceed their expectations, ensuring LST is their contractor of choice.
