Over several years, LST Projects has delivered a series of specialised refurbishments and upgrades at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton, supporting its ongoing role as a leading research and education hub.

Projects have ranged in scale and scope, from complex laboratory remodelling and equipment upgrades to targeted mechanical, electrical, and infrastructure improvements. Works included the safe removal and replacement of fume cupboards and extract systems, the upgrade of ventilation and air handling units, and the sensitive refurbishment of multiple laboratory spaces to support specialist scientific equipment.

The S1 Logistics Area was transformed through the removal and replacement of mezzanine floors, the installation of new rapid roll doors, welfare facilities, and storage solutions.

Other interventions across the site included the remodelling of laboratories to house new spectrometry equipment, improvements to culture facilities, natural gas remedial works, and refurbishment of technical spaces including Lab 781 and Customs Office areas.

Each project was carefully planned and delivered within live, operational environments, requiring precise coordination, specialist services, and close collaboration with stakeholders.

Across all works, LST Projects provided dedicated site management and maintained a clear focus on safety, quality, and operational continuity, ensuring every intervention enhanced the functionality, safety, and resilience of the centre’s world-class research facilities.
