LST Projects was appointed by the Medical Research Centre to deliver a technically complex refurbishment and extension, transforming the facility into a modern, high-performance environment for research and training.
The works involved the full refurbishment of the existing building and the infilling of an internal courtyard to increase floor space and improve functionality.
Façade enhancements and comprehensive MEP upgrades brought the infrastructure up to modern standards, ensuring reliability and efficiency across all systems.
The development now features purpose-built laboratories, preparation and teaching areas, breakout and meeting spaces, reception facilities, and an animal holding unit. Externally, new parking, landscaping, and ancillary improvements were delivered to create a cohesive, welcoming site. The installation of specialist downdraft benches within the labs reflects the project’s tailored approach and attention to scientific requirements.
Completed in partnership with BMJ Architects, this £2.3 million scheme was delivered between September 2019 and August 2020. The result is a revitalised space that not only meets complex technical demands but also provides a supportive, future-ready environment for the people who work and learn within it.
