LST Projects has successfully delivered a modern new pavilion at King George V Playing Fields in Cosham, Portsmouth – a standout example of collaboration and community-focused construction.
Commissioned by Portsmouth City Council, in partnership with the Football Foundation and Hampshire FA, the football complex features two single-storey wings with changing rooms, a café, kitchen, office space, showers and toilets, creating a welcoming space for players and spectators alike.
The surrounding site has also been enhanced with new shrubs, trees, lighting and artificial grass pitches to complement the existing natural playing areas.
With sustainability as a key priority, the facility targets a BREEAM 'Very Good' rating thanks to solar panels and an air source heat pump. Delivered in just 10 months and valued at £5.2m, the complex is already thriving – welcoming over 70,000 visits and running at more than 80% capacity since opening in October 2024. This success was recently recognised at the SECBE Awards 2025, where the project won both Client of the Year and the Integration and Collaborative Working Award, celebrating the exceptional teamwork between LST Projects, Portsmouth City Council and delivery partners.
Cllr Steve Pitt, Leader of Portsmouth City Council, described the result as “a shining example of collaboration, bringing together partners, professionals and the community to create something truly special for Portsmouth.” The KGV Football Complex is more than a sports facility – it’s a sustainable, accessible hub that will serve the community for years to come.
