LST Projects has completed a £1.6m upgrade for Bradfield College Sports Complex creating more energy efficiency and enhancing the 25m swimming pool.

On site for 16 weeks, our team installed a variety of measures to enable the facility to improve environmental sustainability. Energy efficient boilers that run on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) instead of kerosene are now in place along with air source heat pumps and 222 solar panels on the roof. To improve ventilation, a new air handling unit was craned onto the roof.

While installing the new boilers in the plant room, we also overhauled the swimming pool’s filtration system. Featuring the latest technology, this system uses UV light to help sanitise the pool avoiding the need for chlorine.

Leon Gardner, Contracts Manager for LST, said: “These improvements will have a huge impact on the sports complex. Carbon emissions will reduce significantly allowing the college to meet its long-term sustainability aims while members can enjoy swimming with fewer chemicals in the water."

Laura Lyons, Capital Projects Manager, Bradfield College, said: “It’s been another successful project working with the LST team. Given their experience with the college, they understand our requirements. LST always come to the table ready to all work together. The engagement with my team on site has just made for another fantastic, brilliant, perfect project.”
