In January 2017, we were appointed by Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service to carry out reinstatement and refurbishment works following a fire within the ground floor entrance hallway of one of their buildings. Acting under the guidance of HCC Property Services as Principal Designer, the project ran through to September 2017, with a total contract value of £91,000.

While the fire had not caused extensive structural damage, the resulting smoke and heat had significantly impacted the internal finishes and systems, particularly in the entrance hallway. Our works involved a full redecoration of the ground floor, and the replacement of the fire alarm system, which had been rendered completely unusable due to the damage.

Additionally, the cleaning room adjacent to the entrance required renewal of all fittings. We reinstated materials in line with the original specification to preserve the character and continuity of the building. Where appropriate, we introduced minor enhancements to better align the space with current operational requirements and anticipated future use.

Throughout the project, we maintained close collaboration with both the client and Principal Designer to ensure all works were completed to a high standard, with minimal disruption to day-to-day activities. The result was a carefully restored space that retained the building’s original features while incorporating subtle, practical improvements.
